    While having a beard is great. Ultimately you got to do what’s best for you and your family. If that means shaving so you can earn a good income and put food on the table by all means shave.

    In USA, beards are becoming more common in the workplace.

    Especially in the western world there is in general a great deal of negativity about men wearing beards!  I live in Ireland and actually in the last few years there has been a significant increase in the number of men wearing beards. Still anti-beard sentiment has not gone away and probably never will. I grew a Yeard and relate my experiences here https://youtu.be/4hcyh4cwKCY. 

    As MBrashares said you do what you have to, to get through in your life.

    I am fortunate in that I work for an organisation which is more open minded.

    Luckily in the states, organizations have been becoming more lax about things like beards and visible tattoos. But it also depends on the position you are applying for. The more client-facing a job is, the more likely they'll be strict about your looks. For example, you're more likely to be allowed to have visible tattoos and a massive beard if you work as an analyst in a cubicle than if you were a receptionist greeting each guest as they come in the door.
