Nice to meet you, Ken, I assume is your name.  Great story and great looking beard!  Congratulations on your deciding to champion the art of growing a beard, yours is a great example of class and style.  This length looks good on you.  I have not seen other lengths, but I believe this is a good look.  I am glad to hear that you have found a local barber that you trust to trim it, that is a scary task.  I have yet to find one here, so I still trim my own.  I am 52, and although I have had facial hair since I was around 20, I have only had a full beard for about 10 years.  I really enjoy it, it gives me a sense of purpose, and makes me feel confident about myself.  Glad to see you here!

David . . . great to hear from you. This is a journey . . . the bearded life. I began my Instagram with my choice to grow the beard. Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/kengilbertembodyment

    Looking sharp, Ken!

At 66, I have also decided to be bold but my version isn't quite as refined - I've recently cut my beard back a bit but it's still quite long and wild as I decide just what I want to grow out and what I want to keep.

Having recently retired I felt that I had carte blanche to define whatever look I chose and while the current wild and wooly isn't for everyone, I have to say I do enjoy hearing "Hey, here comes The Beard", not to mention having won a Best of Show in an on-line beard contest sponsored by the Free To Breathe (fighting lung cancer) organization!

Zo . . . thank you for your comments. Interesting to hear that you are referred to as "The Beard". In the beginning of my beard growth I received more comments and now nearly none at all. Great to hear of your Best of Show!
