Hey guys, after finally growing out a yeard I decided to trim it down since it never looked quite right. No amount of trimming or styling would ever get it to lay flat. My goal was to give it more of a square shape however it always had that spade look to it along with looking unkempt and curly in places. I'll be the first to admit that the short 1 inch beard looks a lot better on me than the 6 inch but I immediately regretted shaving it off.
While I will be enjoying the shorter beard I do plan on regrowing again and wanted to know if there was anything I could do during that would help shape it better. That was my first beard over an inch so I rarely had it trimmed, washed almost every day, overcombed, etc. I also wanted to know if early combing would make a difference. I used to comb it when it was first growing either straight down or fluff it forward for a more square appearance as on its own it tends to be really tight along the cheeks and pretty much look like it just drops straight down from my chin. The 3rd image is what it looks like now..my goal was to have a similar shape to the last image but maybe that style just doesn't work for me.
